The Dubai Design Week is a beautiful congregation of farmer’s markets, pop-up bars, art exhibitions and food trucks. Color, style, concept, design, cultivation, and flavor were all celebrated. This celebration gives the creative, expressive, and innovative people the opportunity to show what they can offer.
In 2013, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, had a vision of a neighborhood that would focus on providing a nest for Dubai’s creative thinkers and nurture the blooming Emirati designers at the same time. As a result, the d3 or the Dubai Design District was born. Because of this district, Dubai started to become an economic and cultural powerhouse. The huge influx of design talents that visited the district influenced the young Emirati designers in the region.
The now famous d3 is a living, thriving community of creative minds. They access a space that is always open to global studios, brands, ateliers, freelancers, and entrepreneurs. The DDW (Dubai Design Week) is an annual effort to cement the d3 as a premier hub for the creative members of the community. The events in the DDW are spread over the six given days of the week. Pop-up bars, restaurants, and food trucks are always present in during the DDW. Art galleries in Dubai feature the unique works of regional and local digital artists, videographers, photographers, and designers. Even food lovers and healthy food enthusiasts have a blast in the Farmer’s Market. There is no place better to go, if you want to get your hands on fresh ingredients.
Artists and designers have always been believed to create based on how they express themselves. To the people behind DDW, artists and designers create based on the ideas formed in their minds. These ideas are constantly influenced by various elements around them. That is why DDW features various countries including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, and Kuwait.
This year, the Dubai Design Week will be held from November 13 to November 18, 2017. Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the force behind the growth of Dubai as a known global creative center. She is also the Vice Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority. With her leadership, the DDW has always enthralled the city, strengthening its position as the global creative and design hub.
Below are some of the advantages of participating in the DDW:
